This design was inspired by the word, Adúmáadán, and an Ifá recitation by Professor Wande Abimbola.
Adúmáadán, a contraction of Adúdúmúaradán, is a Yorùbá phrase that describes the glow or shine of dark skin. It translates literally to "one whose darkness makes their body glow" or loosely to "One who shines through their dark skin".
In Professor Wande's Ifá recitation, he implores Ọbàtálá, the great creator, who has three differently colored dyepots, to dye him black and no other color.
We connect these ideas, in our design, as a fervent plea to remain connected to our Blackness–to our essence–because that is where we're most pure...most shiny!
