Afia is a feminine Akan day name for a child born on a Friday.

• The Baoulé name, Affoué, in turquoise, is actually given to a child born on a Saturday. This is due to historical factors related to their separation from the Asante Empire.
• One of the Afia variations(yellow) is of the Ndyuka people in Suriname/French Guiana. The Ndyuka people were one of the first successful Maroon revolts of the 16th century.
• Afua is also an Éʋe variant. Akan influence seeped into the naming systems of some neighbouring ethnic groups.
